Miscellaneous Week
Here are a few random pictures of the boys from the past week. They make me smile so I'm sharing them with you.
Tummy time for all. If the babies are on the floor, Jack's favorite place is right between them.

I have a few pictures like this. Logan wide awake, Schaeffer sleeping. It's a good reflection of their personalities thus far.
Jack's recent obsession...mittens.
It cracks me up that my 2 1/2 year old can still fit in the Bumbo seat.

Meeting George
It's been a busy posting day here on the blog. But this is my last one for the evening. Besides the twins hitting 2 months and being 9 weeks old, we also went for our first visit to see George today. I managed to get both babies baths this morning and all four of us dressed before our 9 am doctors appointment. The twins had their 2 month check up and we met our new doctor, Dr. Cross. The whole staff was very friendly and it seems we might enjoy our new pediatricians as much as we enjoyed our last ones, hopefully! The boys checked out good and right after we headed to Iowa. Jack was a little confused at first, but quickly figured out that George was not Logan and that George was Megan's. It's crazy that my little sister has her own baby! George is perfect. He of course slept most of the day and spent some good snuggle time with his Aunt Natalie. During that snuggle time I noticed just a few things about George. First of all he has his mother's hands and fingers. I have never heard of an infant whose hands looked just like one of his parents, but George's do! They look just like Megan's hands, it is so funny. And his hands and feet are so big! His feet are the same size or bigger than the twins and his hands are much bigger than either of the twins. His hair is like his dad's, but his overall look right now is definitely Megan. George has a lot to look forward to in this family, especially with four boy cousins to get into trouble with when he's older.

Monday Pictures-Week 9
Here we are at week 9. The weeks are flying by and the boys are getting bigger and stronger all the time. Their 9th week was marked with many trips to the Pumpkin Festival and the birth of their cousin George. For now George is smaller than the twins, but I don't think that will last long. Logan, whose usually quite happy or very angry, has continued to shower us with smiles. Schaeffer, the more serious of the two, is slowly coming around and occasionally graces us with a beautiful smile. While they tend to still eat every 2 hours and our nights are still a little unpredictable, we're hoping that in the coming weeks we'll see some positive changes in these areas. We had a pretty busy day...and since they were rarely both awake at the same time I didn't manage to get a picture of the two of them together. Probably not a big deal since I got one yesterday.
We're 2 Months Old
Schaeffer and Logan are 2 months old! Their 2 months fell very close to a Monday, so you're getting a lot of Schaeffer and Logan pictures. To compare Jack was 8 pounds and 20 7/8 inches at his 2 months. He was not even on the charts...so I'd say we're doing pretty good since both boys actually have percentiles.
Schaeffer Lee
9 pounds 6 ounces (6th percentile)
22.25 inches (24th percentile)
Logan William
8 pounds 12 ounces (2nd percentile)
21 inches (almost 2nd percentile)

The Love of Jack's Life
Jack says good night to the tractor almost every night and good buy almost every time we leave the house as we drive away.
George is Here!
We have a new nephew! I'm a few days late on this information but we've been busy. George Edwin Dixon was welcomed into this world on Friday, September 17th at 2:58 pm. He was actually born on his due date...who does that? He was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 19.5 inches long. That makes my children seem like peanuts. Can't wait to see George next to Schaeffer and Logan. For that matter, I can't wait to see George! Hopefully we'll make it for a visit tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll post a picture as soon as I can. Congratulations Megan and Dennis!
Pumpkin Festival
Our first Pumpkin Festival as return Morton residents is over. We had such a great time this year and got to go every day to the festival. Jack absolutely loves festivals and we had been talking about the Pumpkin Festival all week. It was very challenging for him to understand that we had to wait until evening to go, as the festival is not open during the days. Our evenings were filled with family, yummy food and fun rides. Jack's favorites were the train and the bike. His least favorite was the roller coaster...he hated that one and I can't say I blame him, it looks very rough. It was fun to take the twins out and see so many familiar faces. Our 2010 P-Fest experience was topped off on Saturday with a visit from friends from Palatine. They Lyons and the Johnson's came down for the day to visit us and enjoy the P-Fest. We had grand plans to enjoy the parade, pumpkin pancakes, crafts and rides. However, the parade got rained out. Luckily we were sitting somewhat near the beginning so we got a little bit of candy and saw the beginning of the parade before we ran for cover at Kevin and Nicole's house. Once the rain passed we walked back to the festival. Unfortunately they were out of pancakes and donuts, but we still had a yummy lunch and a round of apple cider slushies. The kids rode a few rides and then we enjoyed some more relaxing time out at my parents house for a while. It was wonderful to see friends and for the kids to see each other again!

Quick Trip to the Store-Yeah Right
Wow. I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to all the looks I get when I'm out by myself with all three kids. There are many who ooo and ahhh at the babies but so many more give me looks that say "you poor thing, you've really got your hands full". It's these looks of pity that I don't know how to handle. I've started just avoiding eye contact, but those times when I don't I just put on a big smile as though this quick (not really) trip to the store is the easiest thing. Today I went to Wal-Mart. This is the first time I've gone out with all three kids to a store where I needed a cart. The game plan was to utilize the push, pull system. Put one baby and Jack in the stroller to push, sling the other baby and pull the cart behind us. This worked fairly well, except that steering is a bit challenging. Let me tell you...this system generates a lot of looks and comments. I'd say the trip was fairly successful, though I left without everything I wanted. I couldn't find a few things and with lunch time approaching I decided they weren't worth searching for. As it was we left the store with both babies screaming, which you can imagine brings on even more stares! I'd say I was fortunate that not all three kids were screaming! Way to go Jack, you did awesome.

Trusting God
Last Friday we went and looked at a house in Morton. I fell in love. Yes, I'm being dramatic, I'm good at that. But the house has a wrap around front porch...not exactly the huge veranda I've always dreamed of having, but pretty darn close. On top of that it's huge and has a lot of things I really like about it. It's pretty much a house we could be in for many, many years to come. However, it sat vacant for a year in foreclosure and there are several potential major problems with it. Plus our house hasn't sold yet and a whole list of reasons I shouldn't even be thinking about this right now. But I am. I'm trying to just keep trusting God that our place will sell before too long and that if this house we looked at is the house for us, everything will line up. I know that God has really been with us through each step of our lives...especially in the past several months and he's got a timeline all worked out for this house stuff.

DQ
I was feeling a strong need to get out and do something this evening. I don't do well when I don't get out enough. So we made an impromptu trip to the Morton Dairy Queen. This may not sound like a big deal, but I love the Morton DQ. It's way better than any other DQ and I missed it while we were in Palatine. So we took Jack and got his picture on the famous red bench. Of course we ran into several familiar faces as we enjoyed our shakes and talked about how Jack can't reach any of the tall signs along the street. It was a pretty enjoyable time until Jack decided to give us a heart attack and run into the street...almost. He really only got about a step and a half off the curb, but still!

Monday Pictures-Week 7
I forgot to take pictures on Monday so we did them first thing this morning. I was quite happy that I managed to capture what appears to be a smile or almost smile from Schaeffer and also a smile from Logan. I've never seen Schaeffer smile so I was excited to see at least this happy face. And while Logan smiles more frequently, my only pictures were very blurry until today. Also as you can see they are enjoying sitting up in the bumbo-like seat. They are young for it, but did very well. Both could sit for a little bit before tipping over to the side and I think both enjoyed having this new view of the world.
